Customer Review: Price Should Have Been A Dead Giveaway

I just received my HP 0957-2271 AC Power Adapter sold by Cams Digital and fulfilled by Amazon. The packaging consisted of a padded envelope enclosed in a cardboard box. It appears that the sealed envelope, which contained the adapter, came from the supplier (Cams Digital) and the outer box was from Amazon's shipping department. Packaging was great and not an issue. The problem was when I opened up the padded envelope to find the plastic bag that the adapter shipped in was already torn open. The cords to the adapter were unraveled and loose. It almost appeared that the item had been used because the original packaging was torn open and the wire ties that hold the cords together were missing. Anyway, that was my first concern. Second, when I removed the adapter from the envelope I noticed a funny sound. I shook the adapter slightly and noticed that something was loose inside of it. I remained hopeful, but my nightmare materialized when I plugged the adapter into my HP Officejet 6500 printer and nothing happened. The adapter did not work. I was so upset that I chose to save about $10.00 by going with this particular adapter instead of choosing the one listed as "Genuine" for $25.95. Even though the adapter I received was stamped "HP" and stamped with the part number it was missing the serial number and looked a little different than the OEM version that originally came with my printer. For this price I wonder if it is a knockoff or possibly refurbished from HP explaining the packaging? I really don't know. At this point it is going to cost me almost just as much to return it and isn't worth the aggravation or my time. I will chalk it up as a lesson learned and order one directly from HP and spend the $40.00. At least I know I will be getting an original OEM replacement. Buyer be warned - you get what you pay for!
